Japanese Maple Red Dragon

Species: Acer palmatum var dissectum ‘Red Dragon’
  • Graceful small upright tree with thin lacey leaves start as purple in the spring and turns to bright apple red in the fall

 

  • 8’ high by 10 ’wide

 

  • Grows best in moist, well-draining sandy loam soil in full sun to partial shade. Fall color more brilliant in sun

 

  • Good to mulch roots avoid trunk; water in roots well for first 2 years; plant shallow; and protect from strong wind
