About The Nursery

Our nursery story began in July 2017 when I met a man in bib overhauls who talked at great lengths about growing perennials, shrubs and trees and the art of propagation. His authentic, level-headed philosophy not only spurred an acute interest I already had in plants, but also helped me see the potential of another itch I had – owning my own business. His name is Mike McGroaty. He still is a great mentor that I rely on for assistance and support.

I dove into the adventure with all the enthusiasm I could muster. I became a dedicated reader and You Tube watcher on all thing’s plants and the Garden Center business. My wife and I began to sell plants from our home in Holiday Hills, at the Sara Hardy Farm Market and at the Holiday Hills Ski Area. To be successful I knew I needed to build a strong team to support me. I have built friendships and strong business relationships with growers around the country, but especially within the outstanding Floriculture industry in Michigan. We also need to thank the many landscaping companies and other nurseries in our area for their support and encouragement. Together we all strive to serve our customers to the best of our abilities. I would be remiss if I didn’t say I continue to learn from our customers and friends. We try our best to listen and learn from all of you. Thank you!

Unlike big-box stores, we grow our plants right here in northern Michigan, exposing them to natural conditions year-round. By starting thousands of plants from seed and cuttings, we cultivate hardy, well-adapted varieties that thrive in local landscapes.

We believe in supporting our community, sourcing over 90% of our business from Michigan providers. From plants to supplies, we prioritize local partnerships and give back through donations to garden clubs, conservation districts, and public green spaces.
